Insurance & Billing
Clear answers on coverage, billing and financial policies — and a billing office that actually answers the phone.
Registration & insurance
To process claims on your behalf, we must have your insurance coverage information, your employer's name, and your guarantor (the individual responsible for payment). Please bring your current insurance card to every visit — we confirm its accuracy each time, and it's your responsibility to tell us promptly about any billing changes.
If your insurance requires a referral form or prior authorization, obtaining it is your responsibility before the exam. Imaging tests require prior authorization from your insurance company; we will provide a good-faith estimate based on your plan, including coverage, deductible and co-pay or co-insurance.
What diagnostic imaging tests do you offer?
At RMI, we offer all of the standard imaging tests that you would expect at a hospital or full-service imaging center. These include MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography, and DEXA bone densitometry. However, we also offer tests that are uncommon among healthcare providers. These include PET imaging, contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), 4D breast MRI, rapid screening breast MRI, image-guided breast biopsy, and genetic testing for breast cancer. We also offer preventive screening tests such as cardiac calcium score, coronary CT angiogram, and low-dose CT lung screening.
How do I prepare for my imaging test?
Preparation varies depending on the type of test you are having. When you make your appointment, we (or your doctor) will provide you with instructions on how to prepare for your test. When it comes to MRI, you will need to remove any metal objects from your person. In most cases, you will be able to take your regular medications before your appointment; however, in some cases, you may need to adjust the timing or dosage for certain imaging tests.
What if I have an allergic reaction to contrast dyes?
If you have any allergies or have previously had an adverse reaction to x-ray or CT contrast dyes, please inform the technologist. MRI contrast is different from x-ray or CT contrast, and you may not experience the same reaction. At RMI, your safety is our highest priority and our clinicians are prepared in the unlikely event you have an adverse reaction.
When will I learn my test results?
Quality and patient care are our top priority, and we may need outside comparison images that could delay reporting; however, once the radiologist approves the report, the patient portal will notify you. This allows patients to view the report as soon as it is approved.
How do I get copies of my imaging tests?
Simply log into the patient portal from any web-enabled device, or request a CD of your records through our medical records request page.
What does it cost for a scan if I don’t have insurance or don’t want to make an insurance claim?
All of our imaging test cash-pay prices are very competitive and are listed on our cash pay pricing page. If you have any questions, or would like to know about financing options, please call us.
How quickly can I get an imaging test appointment?
We will do our best to accommodate your need for urgency and any challenging scheduling requests. Some of our locations have extended hours and weekend appointments for your convenience.
Do I have to go where I was given a prescription to, or can I choose RMI instead?
You have a choice as to where to have your imaging tests performed. If you prefer to have yours here, we can accept your signed physician order.
How do I know if my insurance covers my test?
Imaging tests require prior authorization from your insurance company. We will provide you with a good faith estimate based on your insurance plan, including your insurance coverage, deductible and co-pay or co-insurance.
Are the imaging exams performed at RMI high quality?
Yes. In addition to having the latest, state-of-the-art equipment and the region’s most capable radiologists, we have received ACR accreditation in every possible category. This represents an exceptionally high quality standard that not all imaging providers can match.
